The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Sunday formally announced its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, ending days of deliberations among alliance partners.

According to the final formula for the 243-member House, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (United) will contest 101 seats each, while the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Chirag Paswan, has been allotted 29 seats. The Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) of Upendra Kushwaha and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each.

The agreement was reached after a series of meetings in Patna and New Delhi over the weekend. BJP’s election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde, and other senior leaders held separate and joint discussions with alliance partners, including Chirag Paswan, who met senior BJP leader Nityanand Rai in Delhi.

The seat distribution confirms earlier speculation that the BJP and JD(U) would contest an equal number of constituencies, underscoring the alliance’s attempt to project unity ahead of the polls.
