Firing Outside Kapil Sharma’s Café in Canada; Khalistani Terrorist Claims Responsibility.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire late Wednesday night at the building housing Kap’s Cafe, a newly launched restaurant by Indian comedian Kapil Sharma in Surrey, British Columbia. While no injuries were reported, the incident has raised serious security concerns.
Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi, a wanted figure linked to the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), has claimed responsibility for the shooting. Laddi, who is on India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) most-wanted list, allegedly cited an old remark by Sharma as the motive behind the attack, according to sources.
Police said the suspects arrived in a car and fled immediately after the firing. Investigators are yet to confirm whether Kap’s Cafe was directly targeted or if the attack was a symbolic warning aimed at Sharma himself.
The incident comes just weeks after Sharma returned to the spotlight with Season 3 of The Kapil Sharma Show on Netflix. The series premiered on June 21, featuring high-profile guests including Salman Khan, the cast of Metro In Dino, Indian cricketers, and an upcoming episode starring OTT favourites Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Pratik Gandhi, and Jeetendra Kumar.
Authorities in Canada have launched a probe into the incident, with security around the café reportedly under review.
