4 Dead, Several Injured as Cloudburst Hits Kathua; Rescue Ops Underway.

At least four people were killed and several others injured after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district late Saturday night. Heavy rainfall has cut off a village, complicating rescue efforts, officials said.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed grief and assured all necessary assistance for affected families. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah and confirmed that rescue operations by the Army, NDRF, SDRF, police, and civil administration are underway.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh reported damage to the railway track, national highway, and a local police station in the Janglote area.

The Kathua district administration has issued a weather advisory, urging residents to avoid rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas. The J&K UT Disaster Management Authority warned of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides in Kathua and several other districts over the next 48–56 hours.
