Restaurants, hotels and other commercial establishments received a major cost relief on Thursday after oil marketing companies slashed the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than Rs 200 in key cities.
The revised prices took effect immediately. In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 202, bringing the retail price down to Rs 2,728. In Kolkata, the cylinder is now cheaper by Rs 209 and will retail at Rs 2,872.50, according to news agency ANI.
The revision applies only to commercial LPG cylinders. There has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders used by households.
The latest reduction follows a similar cut in July and comes after a prolonged period of price hikes that had increased costs for businesses across the hospitality, catering and food service sectors.
Commercial LPG prices had surged in recent months due to disruptions in global energy markets and supply concerns triggered by the conflict in West Asia. The fresh cut is expected to reduce operating expenses for commercial users, even as domestic cooking gas prices remain unchanged.
