South Korean Court Rejects Arrest Warrant for Ex-President Yoon.

A South Korean court has denied a request to issue an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk Yeol in connection with an ongoing investigation into his failed attempt to declare martial law, Yonhap News Agency reported on Wednesday, citing the special prosecutor’s office.

The Seoul Central District Court dismissed the warrant request a day after prosecutors sought Yoon’s detention on charges of obstruction. The request followed an escalation in the investigation into the former president’s controversial move to impose emergency military rule during the final days of his administration in December.

Yoon is already on trial for insurrection over the martial law declaration. He was initially arrested in January after resisting authorities during an attempted detention but was released after 52 days due to procedural issues. According to a senior investigator on the special prosecutor’s team, the latest charges center on obstruction during the probe. However, court officials and prosecutors have not publicly commented on the ruling.

The rejection marks a legal win for Yoon, who continues to face mounting legal troubles stemming from his abrupt ousting and subsequent efforts to retain power. The high-profile case remains a flashpoint in South Korean politics, raising questions about executive overreach and accountability.
