CSK keen to seal Sanju Samson trade, Rajasthan Royals yet to take final call: Report

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly closing in on one of the IPL 2026 trade window’s biggest stories — a potential swap deal involving Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson and CSK’s veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Reports suggest England’s Sam Curran could also move to Rajasthan as part of the same trade package.

According to a report by PTI, a senior CSK official confirmed that the franchise has formally expressed interest in bringing Samson to Chennai. “Everyone knows we are keen on Sanju. We’ve made our intent clear in this trading window. RR’s management has said they’re still evaluating options. We are hopeful Sanju will play for CSK,” the official said.

The move underscores CSK’s plan for the post-MS Dhoni era, with Samson seen as a long-term wicketkeeper-batter and leadership option. Having led Rajasthan since 2021 and remained one of India’s most consistent T20 performers, Samson’s addition could solidify CSK’s middle order and ensure continuity once Dhoni retires.

For Rajasthan, Jadeja’s return would be a full-circle moment — he began his IPL career with RR in 2008 before becoming one of CSK’s greatest match-winners. His all-round abilities and experience could add much-needed balance to the Royals’ lineup.

However, Jadeja’s potential departure could be an emotional blow for Chennai’s fanbase. The star all-rounder has played a pivotal role in multiple title-winning seasons and remains one of the franchise’s most beloved figures.

If the trade is finalised, both teams will need approval from the IPL governing council and written consent from the players involved.

With the trading window nearing its end, the rumoured Samson–Jadeja swap has become the most talked-about move of the season — one that could significantly reshape both franchises ahead of IPL 2026.
