Dhurandhar continues to generate strong buzz even as new releases arrive in theatres, with the film drawing praise from audiences as well as public figures.

Actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani has once again expressed her admiration for the film, this time singling out Akshaye Khanna for special praise. Taking to Instagram, Irani shared a clip from Akshaye Khanna’s comic performance in Tees Maar Khan, a film that has recently resurfaced on social media. In the clip, Khanna’s character is seen dramatically chasing an Oscar. Posting the video, Irani wrote, “When Akshaye has surpassed all expectations and you too want to yell… de do Oscar!”

A few days earlier, Irani had posted a detailed note praising Dhurandhar and its director Aditya Dhar. Referring to several sites that have witnessed terror attacks, she said those familiar with such tragedies would understand why the film does not provoke outrage.

She described Dhar as a “craftsperson par excellence” and praised the performances of Akshaye Khanna, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal. Irani also commended casting director Mukesh Chhabra for the film’s casting choices. Calling Dhurandhar “more than just a film,” Irani wrote that it is “the echo of lives lived and lost.” She added that, having worked with Ajit Doval in the past, she believed R. Madhavan was the ideal choice to portray him on screen.

Irani concluded her post by paying tribute to those who lost their lives defending the nation, saying the country remains forever indebted to their sacrifice.
