Delhi Capitals held their nerve in a tense chase to beat UP Warriorz by five wickets, booking a spot in Sunday’s WPL 2026 Eliminator and ending defending champions Mumbai Indians’ campaign. Chasing a modest 123, DC looked in control early as Laura Wolvaardt (47 off 36) and Shafali Verma (29) added a 73-run partnership after the early loss of Lizelle Lee. However, a middle-order wobble saw Delhi slump from 84 for one to 101 for five, giving UP Warriorz a glimmer of hope.
Captain Jemimah Rodrigues remained calm under pressure, finishing unbeaten on 34 off 18, while youngster Niki Prasad steadied the other end, guiding Delhi home with eight balls to spare. Earlier, Delhi’s bowlers set the tone. Marizanne Kapp led with 3 for 30, supported by Chinelle Henry’s two wickets, as UP Warriorz managed only 122 for eight. Deepti Sharma top-scored with 24, but regular breakthroughs prevented any meaningful partnerships.
Delhi now faces an in-form Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator at Baroda, with a place in the WPL final at stake. Despite not being their most dominant display, Delhi’s composure in the clutch ensured they remain in contention.
