Earthquake of 4.4 Magnitude Shakes Delhi-NCR, Epicentre in Haryana’s Jhajjar.

Strong earthquake tremors were felt across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday morning after a magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Jhajjar in Haryana, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The tremors occurred at 9:04 AM and lasted for a few seconds. Jhajjar, which lies approximately 60 km from the national capital, falls within the NCR zone.

Tremors were reported from several parts of the region, including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. The shaking was also felt in Sonipat, Rohtak, and Hisar in Haryana. While the quake caused a brief moment of panic, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Many residents took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share short clips and reactions, with visuals showing swaying ceiling fans, vibrating furniture, and people stepping outdoors. The tremor comes a day after heavy rainfall brought parts of Delhi-NCR to a standstill, leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion, adding to the city’s recent weather-related challenges.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert but avoid panic, and to follow official updates in case of aftershocks.
