Delhi Police on Friday apprehended Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon, the key suspect linked to the firing incidents outside Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, Canada.
Investigators say Sekhon has close ties to gangster Goldy Brar, a prominent figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to officials, Sekhon fled to India soon after the attacks in Canada. He was tracked down and arrested by the Crime Branch, which also recovered a Chinese-made pistol and cartridges from his possession. Central agencies have now joined the investigation to map his associates, movements, and the suspected weapons supply chain connected to the shootings.
Probes so far indicate that Sekhon arranged weapons and logistics for the shooters who targeted Kap’s Cafe on multiple occasions this year. The comedian’s British Columbia café, launched in July, has been attacked three times. Though no injuries were reported, gangster Goldy Dhillon had earlier claimed responsibility for the strikes through a video posted online.
Investigators are now scrutinising how Sekhon coordinated with handlers abroad and whether additional operatives linked to the network are active in India or Canada. His interrogation will focus on the broader nexus involving Goldy Brar and the motive behind the repeated attacks.
