Dhurandhar: The Revenge has rewritten box office history with a record-shattering opening, as Ranveer Singh’s film crossed the ₹100 crore net mark on Day 1 — a first for Bollywood.

Backed by massive pre-release buzz and strong paid previews, the film has set a new benchmark for Hindi cinema openings. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller hit theatres worldwide on March 19, but its momentum began a day earlier with paid previews in select markets. The film collected a staggering ₹43 crore net from previews alone, comfortably surpassing the previous record held by Stree 2.

Biggest Bollywood opening ever

As per early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned around ₹103 crore on its opening day, taking its combined total, including previews, to approximately ₹146 crore net. Even with incomplete figures, it has already registered the highest opening in Bollywood history.

Strong run across languages

The film’s dubbed versions have further boosted its performance. The Telugu version has led among regional releases, with the Tamil version following closely. The Malayalam and Kannada versions are expected to gain traction over the weekend after missing preview shows.

Beats Pathaan, Jawan and more

With its explosive start, the film has overtaken the opening numbers of Pathaan, Jawan and Animal, along with Stree 2, to become the new record-holder for the biggest Day 1 in Bollywood.

The film also boasts a strong ensemble cast including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.

Following the massive success of its predecessor, which reportedly grossed over ₹1300 crore worldwide, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is now on course to set even bigger milestones in the days ahead, potentially redefining box office records for Indian cinema.
