Dhurandhar: The Revenge Review — Ranveer Singh Powers a Gritty, Action-Heavy Sequel
Dhurandhar: The Revenge resumes from the fallout of Rehman Dakait’s death, plunging straight into a world of covert operations, national security threats and cross-border intrigue. Director Aditya Dhar ups the scale this time, delivering a film that is bigger, darker and far more violent than its predecessor.
The action is relentless and often brutal, pushing boundaries rarely explored in mainstream Bollywood. While the violence can feel excessive at times, it largely works in service of the story, adding grit and urgency to the narrative.
Beyond the spectacle, the film holds its ground with a twist-filled screenplay that keeps the audience guessing. The plot constantly shifts, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. However, the pacing isn’t always consistent. Portions of the first half drag, while some stretches in the latter half feel forced, particularly where the political angle is overplayed.
At the centre of it all is Ranveer Singh, who delivers a commanding performance. He brings both intensity and emotional depth to Hamza, effortlessly switching between high-octane action and vulnerable moments. His screen presence anchors the film and remains its biggest strength.
Dhar smartly echoes Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait through Hamza’s character, adding continuity to the franchise. But the emotional arc involving Alina, played by Sara Arjun, feels underdeveloped and lacks impact.
Among the supporting cast, Rakesh Bedi stands out with his comic timing, while R. Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt deliver dependable performances. The much-anticipated cameo by Yami Gautam, however, turns out to be underwhelming.
The music complements the film well, with the use of Rasputin adding a quirky, memorable touch amid the intensity. Dhurandhar: The Revenge scores high on action and performances, especially Ranveer Singh’s, but falls short of the original’s tighter storytelling. Engaging, intense, but not quite as impactful as the first film.
