Navigating your life after a separation is challenging, especially for single mothers, as they might face financial pressures and the emotional toll of carrying all responsibilities alone.
But despite all problems, life can get easier if we have the right people around us who can be our guiding angels and can bring positive changes. Something like that recently happened when a girl helped her 39-year-old Aunt to overcome her recent separation from her ex-husband and the pressure of being a single mother.
Niece Introduces Maasi To Bumble
Taking to Reddit, a user shared the story of how she introduced her Maasi, her role model, to Bumble, a dating app, to help her overcome her past. She wrote, “Three years earlier her life hit a stumbling block where her husband (I don’t even want to associate with him) cheated on her and while a lot of my family told her to forgive and stay she bloody took a stance and said ‘My self-respect is worth more’ and they got separated. (She didn’t take a penny in child support or alimony), Being a single mom is very tough and I could see her struggle at times.”
In this situation, the Niece asked her aunt to create a profile on Bumble, “as I believe that’s the safest dating app without creepy men,” she wrote. To make her account, the girl uploaded her Maasi’s several pretty and ‘hot’ pictures.
The post concluded, “She’s so clueless it’s so funny and I haven’t told my cousin brother (Her son) and it’s so funny, but hey YOLO naa. She showed me the world when I didn’t know it and how the tables have turned hehee.”
How Did Social Media React?
In no time, the comment section was swamped with reactions from several users. A Reddit user shared, “This is actually so wholesome. You didn’t just make her join Bumble, you helped her reclaim a part of herself she’d buried for years. Love that you’re normalizing Indian women, especially moms, choosing themselves again.” Another one wrote, “It’s great that you encouraged her to date, that’s a wonderful thing to do.”
A person commented, “This can go wrong in so many ways but the only thing important is the dating thing not affecting her son.” “I hope your Maasi does not get annoying messages from guys. Please make sure that if she is using it, she has the correct filters set; otherwise, the best way to move forward would be to find a partner irl,” a comment reads.
“This is such a wholesome post, OP. Kudos to her for taking a bold stance by getting divorced from a cheating husband,” a person commented. In the middle of this, a section of users said that the whole thing looked like a “porn plot”.
Also, several dating app scams have recently come under the spotlight. Therefore, it is necessary to be alert while talking to new people and always pay attention to the red flags. [Change Content]
