Doval–Drouin meeting puts Khalistani groups at centre of India–Canada reset

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval concluded a two-day visit to Canada, holding talks with Nathalie Drouin, Deputy Clerk and National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Canadian Prime Minister, as part of an ongoing bilateral security dialogue between the two countries.

According to top government sources, the meeting marked a clear reset in India–Canada ties and conveyed that violent extremist organisations — including Khalistani-linked networks — do not enjoy the backing of the Canadian government.

Sources said the discussions focused on strengthening real-time intelligence sharing on drugs, cyber threats and extremism, with Khalistani-linked groups featuring prominently on the agenda. The talks, they added, reflected a shift by Ottawa from political posturing to a law-enforcement-led approach in dealing with anti-India activities.
