Real Madrid claimed a crucial 2-1 win over Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday, October 26, to open up a five-point lead at the top of the LaLiga table. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for Madrid in the 22nd minute after linking up brilliantly with Jude Bellingham, who later doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 43rd minute. Fermín López had briefly pulled Barcelona level in the 38th minute with a close-range finish from Marcus Rashford’s cutback.

The second half saw Madrid miss a chance to extend their lead when Mbappé’s penalty was saved by Wojciech Szczęsny. Barcelona pushed hard for an equaliser, with Lamine Yamal going close, but Thibaut Courtois stood firm in goal. Barça’s night worsened when Pedri was sent off late in the match, ending their hopes of a comeback. With the win, Real Madrid move to 27 points from 10 games, while Barcelona remain second with 22.
