Fresh Gunfight Erupts in J&K’s Kishtwar, Day After 2 Soldiers Killed in Kulgam.
The Army has launched a fresh encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, with heavy gunfire reported in the Dul area on Sunday. Troops established contact during an intelligence-based operation earlier in the day, the Army’s White Knight Corps said, adding that the gunfight is ongoing.
The operation comes less than 24 hours after two soldiers — Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh — were killed in Kulgam, where ‘Operation Akhal’ has entered its ninth day. The long-running Kulgam operation, involving the Army, J&K Police, CRPF, and SOG, has already claimed the life of at least one terrorist.
The Chinar Corps paid tribute to the slain soldiers, saying their “courage and dedication will forever inspire” and expressing condolences to their families.
Security forces remain engaged in multiple anti-terror operations across the Valley.
