KL Rahul Joins Vengsarkar with Second Test Century at Lord’s.

KL Rahul etched his name into the history books on Day 3 of the ongoing third Test against England, becoming only the second Indian batter to score multiple Test centuries at Lord’s. The stylish right-hander brought up his hundred shortly after lunch, adding to his 129-run knock at the same venue during India’s 2021 victory.

With this innings, Rahul joined Dilip Vengsarkar—who scored three centuries at Lord’s between 1979 and 1986—in an elite club of Indian batters with multiple hundreds at the iconic ground. It was also Rahul’s 10th Test century and fourth overall in England, extending his record for the most Test centuries by an Indian opener in the country.

Resuming the day on 53, Rahul played a composed innings, allowing Rishabh Pant to dominate early proceedings. He gained momentum with three consecutive boundaries off Brydon Carse and moved into the 90s by lunch. A mix-up led to Pant’s run-out on 74 while trying to get Rahul back on strike on 98.

The milestone came shortly after the interval, with Rahul nudging a single off Jofra Archer to bring up his hundred. He became just the fourth visiting opener to score multiple centuries at Lord’s. His innings ended on 100 when he edged Shoaib Bashir to first slip.

Rahul’s latest century further cements his reputation as one of India’s most reliable overseas performers, particularly in English conditions.
