Erika Kirk, widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has addressed.

The intense public scrutiny she’s faced in recent months after a viral video showed her hugging US Vice President JD Vance during a public event. Speaking to Fox News’ Jesse Watters, Erika reflected on how her life has been under constant media observation since her husband’s assassination. “There were cameras all over my husband when he was murdered,” she said in the interview, shared on X.

“There have been cameras all over my friends and family, mourning. There have been cameras all over me — analysing my every move, my every smile, my every tear. We deserve to have cameras in there,” she added, urging that media be allowed inside the courtroom during the trial of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of her husband’s murder.

During the emotional interview, Erika broke down when shown a video of Charlie. “This is the longest video I’ve watched of him. Just give me a second,” she said through tears. When asked if she had taken up her late husband’s mission to “save Western civilisation,” Erika responded quietly, “I didn’t sign up for anything. I just married the love of my life.”

Erika’s re-emergence as the CEO of Turning Point USA and her public appearances have been met with both sympathy and criticism. Many supporters have praised her resilience, while detractors accused her of “moving on too quickly.”

The viral video of her embracing Vice President JD Vance — followed by her remarks about similarities between Vance and her late husband — further intensified public debate. Despite the scrutiny, Erika has maintained her focus on continuing her husband’s legacy while navigating personal grief under the public eye.
