Umar Ansari Arrested for Forgery in Bid to Reclaim Mukhtar Ansari’s Seized Properties.

Umar Ansari, son of late gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly submitting forged documents in court to recover properties seized from his father. In a statement, the Superintendent of Police, Ghazipur, said the properties had been confiscated under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters Act. Umar filed a petition seeking their release but allegedly submitted forged papers that included fake signatures attributed to his mother, Afshan Ansari.

Police claim the forgery was intended to facilitate illegal possession of the assets. Afshan Ansari is currently absconding and carries a ₹50,000 reward on her head. Following the discovery of the alleged fraud, a case was registered at Mohammadabad police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Umar Ansari was arrested by a Ghazipur police team in Lucknow. An investigation is ongoing.
