AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar has echoed the BJP’s criticism of Rahul Gandhi over his latest foreign trip, taking a dig at the Congress leader for missing the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.
In a post on X, Kakkar wrote, “No one told the LoP that he could use Google Meet for a meeting with his NRI Congress prabharis in Germany instead of skipping the winter session…” Rahul Gandhi will be in Berlin from December 15 to 20 to attend an Indian Overseas Congress event, and will therefore miss the remainder of the Winter Session, which concludes on December 19.
The BJP was first to target the Congress MP, with spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla calling him the “LoP—Leader of Paryatan and Leader of Partying.” He accused Gandhi of being “a non-serious politician,” adding, “People are in work mode… he is in permanent vacation mode. Recently, during the Bihar election, he was on a jungle safari.” Poonawalla also suggested the Germany trip would be a “‘Bharat badnami’ tour.”
The Congress responded by pointing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s own travel record. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “Modiji spends almost half his working time outside the country. Why are they raising questions about the Leader of the Opposition travelling?”
Deputy LoP Gaurav Gogoi said the BJP resorted to personal attacks when it lacked answers to the Opposition’s questions. “When the BJP does not have answers to Rahul Gandhi’s questions, the only resort is to malign him,” he said. The Indian Overseas Congress has described Gandhi’s Germany visit as a significant outreach effort aimed at strengthening the party’s global engagement.
