Investigators probing the Delhi blast are widening their focus to Haryana after the Faridabad Crime Branch detained a maulana and an Urdu teacher from Sohna in Gurugram.
Sources said Umar — the suicide bomber behind the November 10 Red Fort Metro Station attack that killed 13 people — had been making frequent visits to the Raipur village mosque in Sohna, where he was in touch with the mosque’s maulana, Tayyab Hussain, and an Urdu teacher. He was also seen stopping by a fertiliser and seed shop in Sohna’s mandi after visiting the mosque.
Both the maulana and the teacher were taken into custody late Tuesday night for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Umar’s Movement in Kashmir
Officials have also confirmed that Umar-un-Nabi travelled to Kashmir shortly before carrying out the suicide attack and left his mobile phone with his brother, Illahi, instructing him to destroy it immediately if any news about him surfaced.
During interrogation, Illahi led the police to the location where he had dumped the phone. Although water-damaged, forensic teams managed to retrieve significant data, including disturbing video footage in which Umar describes the Red Fort bombing as a “martyrdom operation,” offering deeper insight into his radicalisation.
