‘He Took It as a Dare’: Woman Claims Brother Killed Police Officer, Then She Held Ritual with Lover’s Corpse
Aachal Mamilwar, the girlfriend of 24-year-old Saksham Tatte who was shot dead in Maharashtra’s Nanded, has alleged that her family killed him because he belonged to a lower caste — and that the attack was triggered after her brother interpreted a police taunt as a “challenge.”
Hours after the murder, Aachal smeared Saksham’s blood on her forehead and performed a symbolic marriage ritual with his body, declaring she would live with his family. “Even though he is no longer alive, I will stay in his house. I still love him,” the 21-year-old said.
She claimed that on the morning of the killing, her brother had taken her to a police station to file a false complaint against Saksham, but she refused. According to her, officers allegedly mocked her family and said that instead of making up cases, they should “kill” the man first — a comment she says her brother took literally. “He accepted it as a challenge,” she said, as quoted by ANI.
Police arrested eight people — including Aachal’s father, Gajanan Mamilwar, and her brothers Sahil and Himesh — within 12 hours of the incident. A murder case and charges under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been registered, based on a complaint by Saksham’s mother.
Aachal said she and Saksham had been together for three years, but her family opposed the relationship because he belonged to a Scheduled Caste. She also alleged that her family told Saksham he would need to convert to Hinduism if he wanted to marry her — a condition she claims he agreed to.
The murder took place around 5:30 pm on Thursday, when the accused allegedly confronted Saksham after learning he was in the neighbourhood. They shot him and then attacked him with a large stone, killing him on the spot. Witnesses said the assault was sudden and left bystanders with no time to intervene.
Aachal has demanded the death penalty for her family members, accusing them of plotting to kill Saksham after his recent release from jail. “My family was just waiting for an opportunity,” she said. “The killers of Saksham should be given the death penalty. I want justice.”
