Heavy Rain In Gurugram: Offices Urged To Encourage Work From Home

The advisory came after Gurugram recorded 60 mm of rain between 8 am and 5 pm on August 7, raising concerns over waterlogging, traffic congestion and difficult commuting conditions.

Gurugram Deputy Commissioner and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) chairman Uttam Singh issued the advisory, India Today reported.

The district administration said limiting the number of people travelling on the roads would help reduce traffic pressure and allow authorities to carry out water drainage, repair and restoration work more efficiently.

Corporate offices and private institutions have been asked to encourage employees to work remotely to reduce unnecessary movement during the period of heavy rainfall.

With fewer commuters on the roads, civic agencies are expected to have greater access to waterlogged and affected areas, making it easier to carry out drainage, repair and restoration operations.

The administration has also urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious while commuting, particularly in areas vulnerable to waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Officials have warned that several parts of the city could face waterlogging and traffic jams, potentially disrupting daily commutes across Gurugram and neighbouring areas.

Residents have been advised to monitor weather updates, plan their journeys accordingly and avoid stepping out unless necessary.

The administration said the measures are intended to minimise disruption and ensure that essential civic and restoration work continues without additional pressure from traffic.

The advisory comes as Delhi and other parts of the NCR experience heavy rainfall, raising the possibility of wider disruptions across the region. Gurugram, home to a large concentration of corporate offices and daily commuters, could be particularly affected by deteriorating road conditions.
