Jharkhand High Court Exempts CM Hemant Soren From Personal Appearance in Land Scam Case.
The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday exempted Chief Minister Hemant Soren from appearing in person before the MP-MLA Court in a case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over an alleged land scam. Soren can now be represented by his counsel.
The ED had filed a complaint after Soren reportedly failed to respond to multiple summonses—appearing only twice out of ten. Following this, the MP-MLA Court directed his personal appearance, which Soren challenged before the high court.
Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary disposed of Soren’s petition, allowing legal representation instead of a personal appearance. The court also granted an adjournment to the state government while vacating the earlier stay that had kept Soren’s appearance in abeyance.
