Hockey India Names 33-Member Squad for Senior Men’s Camp Ahead of Asia Cup and Australian Tour.
Hockey India on Thursday announced a 33-member core group for the Senior Men’s National Coaching Camp, scheduled to run from July 14 to August 7 at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru. The camp is a key preparatory step ahead of India’s upcoming Australian tour and the all-important Asia Cup, which will be held in Bihar from August 29 to September 7.
The winner of the Asia Cup will earn direct qualification for the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026, adding high stakes to the training phase.
Focus on Finishing and Counter-Attacks: Coach Fulton
Head coach Craig Fulton, reviewing India’s underwhelming Pro League campaign in Europe — where the team registered just one win in eight matches — said the team competed hard but failed to finish games effectively.
“We need to improve our closing ability — something we did well in Bhubaneswar,” he said.
“This camp will focus on strengthening our ‘defend to counter to win’ philosophy. Asia Cup is a big opportunity and we’re motivated to qualify for the World Cup.”
