The Centre is considering involving the armed forces in logistics for the NEET-UG re-examination on June 21, as the government moves to ensure a secure and glitch-free process for more than 2.2 million students after the original test was scrapped over allegations of paper leaks and malpractice.

A high-level review meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was held on Thursday and attended by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, senior officials from the National Testing Agency and the education ministry.

Officials reviewed the entire examination process, including question paper preparation, printing, transportation, security and final delivery to centres.

“NEET-UG is the biggest pan-India level offline exam involving over 2.2 million students. We will take help from the Army in logistics wherever they can help us,” a senior NTA official said, adding that the Air Force could assist in transporting question papers during adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain or storms.

The official clarified that the armed forces would only assist with logistics, secure transportation and emergency contingencies, and would not be involved in conducting or supervising the examination itself.

If approved, it would be the first time the military is formally involved in logistical support for a national entrance examination in India.

The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2026, has so far arrested 13 people in connection with the paper leak case.
