‘A State That Harbours Terrorists’: India Hits Out at Pakistan at UN, Defends Operation Sindoor.
India strongly rebuked Pakistan at the UN Human Rights Council on Wednesday, accusing it of sheltering terrorists and defending Operation Sindoor as a moral and strategic necessity. “When a state harbours terrorists who massacre innocents, defensive action is not just a right—it is a solemn duty,” said Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi, calling Pakistan the “epicentre of jihadist terrorism.”
He further added, “From hosting Osama bin Laden to offering state funerals to terrorists, Pakistan never fails to disappoint.” Tyagi also accused Pakistan of misusing the Indus Waters Treaty to obstruct India’s development projects for decades.
What Is Operation Sindoor?
On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor—precision strikes targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir—following the April 23 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.
India’s military later deployed BrahMos missiles on May 9–10 to strike Pakistani airbases in Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, and Nur Khan, reportedly killing 42 Pakistani military personnel. The strikes prompted Pakistan to request a ceasefire on May 10.
India claims it successfully intercepted all retaliatory drone and missile attacks from Pakistan, preventing civilian casualties.
Modi to Trump: Our Response Was Measured, But Firm
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a phone call with former U.S. President Donald Trump, described the Indian strikes as “measured, precise, and non-escalatory,” while affirming India’s right to retaliate against cross-border terrorism.
Modi also addressed the G7 Outreach Session in Canada, calling the Pahalgam attack “an assault on humanity” and warning against global double standards on terrorism. Without naming Pakistan directly, he condemned countries that “support terrorism and are still rewarded with billions in aid.”
“Terrorism is no longer a proxy war—it is an act of war,” Modi said, stressing that Operation Sindoor remains ongoing.
