India Edge Past Bangladesh, Set Up Virtual Knockout With Pakistan.

Suryakumar Yadav’s India were far from their fluent best on September 24 but still proved too strong for Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium. Chasing 169, Bangladesh—fielding a B-string XI with four changes—were bowled out for 127, handing India a 41-run victory.

The loss puts Bangladesh in a virtual knockout against Pakistan on Thursday, leaving them less than 24 hours to recover, while Sri Lanka were officially eliminated from the Asia Cup.

Bangladesh struggled from the start. India’s new-ball pair, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, struck early. Bumrah dismissed Tanzim Tamim in the second ball of his first over and troubled Parvez Emon, who replaced Litton Das, taking eight balls to get off the mark and narrowly surviving an inswinging yorker that hit his pads outside leg stump. Bangladesh managed only 22 runs in the first four overs.

The innings got a brief revival when Suryakumar Yadav brought on Varun Chakravarthy. Emon and opener Saif Hassan attacked the spinner to steady the innings, but regular wickets ensured Bangladesh never built momentum, finishing at 127 in 19.3 overs.

Fielding Woes Persist
India’s fielding, once a hallmark under Virat Kohli, again faltered. Multiple dropped catches under the Dubai lights allowed Bangladesh to extend their innings. Fielding lapses have emerged as one of India’s key weaknesses in the tournament, yet the team has not addressed them in post-match interactions.
