India Squad Updates: Vaishnavi Sharma in for Australia ODIs, Harleen Not in T20I Squad

Vaishnavi Sharma Earns Maiden ODI Call-Up; Harleen Deol Dropped from T20Is Ahead of Australia Tour.

Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma has received her first ODI call-up for India’s upcoming tour of Australia, while Bharti Fulmali returns to the T20I setup for the first time since 2019, as announced by the BCCI. The tour, starting February 15, will feature three ODIs and three T20Is.

Harleen Deol Misses Out

Star batter Harleen Deol, part of India’s ODI squad, has been left out of the T20I side. The 27-year-old has struggled in T20Is, scoring 311 runs from 20 innings at an average of 17.27 and a strike rate of 92.01, with just one fifty.

Fulmali and Patil Return

Fulmali earned her recall following impressive performances in the Women’s Premier League 2026 (WPL 2026). She has scored 92 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 191.66 for Gujarat Giants this season and had previously amassed 133 runs at a strike rate of 172.72 last season. Fulmali made her India debut seven years ago against England and has played only two T20Is to date.

Off-spinner Shreyanka Patil, last seen in the T20 World Cup 2024, has also returned to the T20I squad after recovering from injuries. Patil has been in top form in WPL 2026, picking up eight wickets in four matches, including a standout 5/23 against Gujarat Giants.

Young Talent Gets the Nod

Alongside Vaishnavi, 17-year-old wicketkeeper G Kamalini has earned her maiden ODI call-up. Kashvee Gautam, who last played in the tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa in May 2025, has also returned to the ODI setup.

Key Notes Ahead of the Tour

The tour marks India’s first series against Australia since their historic 2025 Women’s World Cup semi-final win. It will also serve as a farewell series for Alyssa Healy, who has announced her international retirement following the ODI series.
