ISRO’s PSLV-C62 Successfully Launches India’s First Space Mission of 2026.
India began its 2026 space campaign on Monday as ISRO’s PSLV-C62 rocket successfully placed the EOS-N1 Earth observation satellite along with 14 other satellites into orbit from Sriharikota. The 260-tonne Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle lifted off from the First Launch Pad at 10:18 am, deploying EOS-N1, also known as Anvesha, into a polar sun-synchronous orbit several hundred kilometres above Earth.
The launch is a major milestone for ISRO, coming after the agency had to abort its last PSLV flight in 2025 due to a technical anomaly. With this mission, PSLV has now completed 64 successful launches, reaffirming its role as the backbone of India’s space programme.
The EOS-N1 satellite will aid in Earth observation and remote sensing applications, while the additional 14 satellites include both domestic and international payloads, highlighting India’s growing presence in the global space market.
