Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh along with Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, has been making headlines since its announcement.
After the trailer and character posters raised expectations, fresh buzz around the film’s runtime has intensified curiosity. A Bollywood Hungama report suggests that Dhurandhar Part 1 is likely to run for about 3 hours and 32 minutes, with the final duration expected to be close to 3.5 hours. The team has begun the censor certification process, and the exact runtime will be confirmed once the CBFC clears the film. No official announcement has been made yet.
The long runtime appears to stem from the scale of the story.
“Dhurandhar covers a vast narrative. Aditya Dhar is known for packed storytelling — whether it’s Uri: The Surgical Strike or productions like Article 370, Dhoom Dhaam and Baramulla. His films move fast and never feel stretched. Dhurandhar follows the same pattern, with enough happening on screen to keep the audience hooked,” a source told the portal.
If these reports are accurate, Dhurandhar will be Bollywood’s longest mainstream film in nearly 17 years. The last film with a comparable duration was Jodhaa Akbar (2008), which had a runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes. Earlier big-ticket titles like LOC Kargil (2003; 4 hours 7 minutes), Lagaan (2001; 3 hours 44 minutes), Salaam-E-Ishq (2007; 3 hours 36 minutes) and Mohabbatein (2000; 3 hours 35 minutes) had similarly long durations.
Another report claims that the makers decided in October to release Dhurandhar as a two-part project, after realising that the full narrative could not fit into a single film. Part 1 is scheduled to hit theatres on December 5, while Part 2 is expected to arrive in the first half of 2026.
