Netanyahu Warns UK, Canada, Australia Against Recognising Palestinian State.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday strongly condemned Britain, Canada, and Australia for recognising a Palestinian state, calling it “rewarding terror” in the wake of the October 7 Hamas attack. He reiterated that there will be no Palestinian state “to the west of the Jordan River.”

Speaking to the media, Netanyahu said, “There will be no Palestinian state. The response to this attempt to impose a terror state in the heart of our land will come after my return from the United States. You are rewarding terror with an enormous prize. It will not happen.”

Reaffirming his long-standing opposition to Palestinian statehood, he vowed to expand Israeli settlements in the West Bank, adding, “We have doubled Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria and will continue on this path.”

The move by the three countries aims to revive momentum for a two-state solution:

• UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer: “To revive hope for peace, the UK formally recognises the State of Palestine.”
• Canadian PM Mark Carney: “Canada recognises Palestine and offers our partnership for a peaceful future for both nations.”
• Australian PM Anthony Albanese: “This reflects our commitment to a two-state solution and lasting peace.”

Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin welcomed the recognition, saying it strengthens Palestinian independence, sovereignty, and the prospects for a two-state solution.
