“It’s Not About Willpower”: Cult Fit Co-founder Shares 6 Weight Loss Habits That Actually Work.

Rishabh Telang, co-founder of Cult Fit and a fitness industry veteran with over 20 years of experience, recently shared six practical weight loss lessons on Instagram—emphasising habits that are sustainable, not extreme. “The best weight loss strategies don’t rely on superhuman discipline—they work with your body, not against it,” Rishabh wrote in his post on July 23.

Here are the six insights he says can make a real difference:

1. Sleep Comes First
Poor sleep disrupts hunger hormones and increases cravings. Aim for 7–9 hours of quality sleep each night to avoid mindless snacking and overeating.

2. Move Beyond the Gym
You don’t burn fat only during workouts. Rishabh highlights non-exercise activity—like walking, standing, and taking stairs—as a hidden superpower for fat loss. Tracking 10,000 steps a day is a great place to start.

3. Stress Less, Lose More
Chronic stress encourages fat storage, particularly around the belly. “Even 10 minutes of meditation a day can shift your stress response—and your results,” says Rishabh.

4. Remove the Temptation
“If it’s in your kitchen, you’ll eventually eat it,” he warns. Clearing out junk food from your home makes healthier choices easier and more automatic.

5. Forget Crash Diets
Quick fixes come at a cost. Crash diets can damage your metabolism and foster an unhealthy relationship with food. Rishabh urges people to choose long-term lifestyle changes over short-term tricks.

6. Hydrate Smartly
Drinking 500 ml of water before meals is a simple, research-backed strategy to reduce hunger and manage portion sizes. Staying hydrated also improves energy and digestion. Weight loss doesn’t have to be extreme. According to Rishabh, real transformation comes from tuning into your body, managing your environment, and building habits that last.
