“It’s Now or Never”: Thousands Rally in Tel Aviv Demanding Safe Return of Gaza Hostages.

Thousands of Israelis gathered at Hostages Square in Tel Aviv on Sunday to mark two years since the Hamas-led October 7 attacks, which claimed over 1,200 lives, demanding the government ensure US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan succeeds.

Peace Plan Breakthrough

Hamas has reportedly agreed to key elements of Trump’s proposal, including:

Release of all hostages

Handover of Gaza administration to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats), based on Palestinian consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic nations

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed hope that the return of all hostages could be announced in the coming days, while his negotiating team has been sent to Egypt to finalize technical details of the release.

Protesters Urge Action

Hostages Square has become a focal point for demonstrations calling for the safe return of captives taken during the October 7 attacks. Families of the hostages demanded that Netanyahu implement Trump’s peace plan effectively. Protesters carried banners reading:

“It’s now or never. We can’t let another deal collapse.” The demonstrations reflected both hope and urgency, with citizens emphasizing that the current agreement must not fail.

Families Call for End to Fighting

Families of the hostages have long pressured Netanyahu to halt military operations and secure the release of captives. While Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has caused severe casualties and destruction, negotiations continue.

Of the remaining 48 hostages, Israel believes 30 may be dead, though Netanyahu remains optimistic about a full return. Despite calls for an immediate ceasefire, Israeli forces continue to operate inside Gaza, with the civil defense reporting 57 fatalities since dawn, including 40 in Gaza City alone.

The rally highlighted the public urgency and emotional weight surrounding the hostages’ return, emphasizing the fragile window for peace and the international spotlight on the ongoing conflict.
