Kangana Ranaut Alleges Masaba Gupta Barred Her Sari for Ram Janmbhoomi Visit: ‘Still Makes Me Sick’
Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has sparked conversation online after recalling a styling incident involving designer Masaba Gupta that she says still upsets her. Kangana took to Instagram and X to share that she was discouraged from wearing Masaba’s clothes for a visit to Ram Janmbhoomi, even though the same outfits had been sent for her film promotions.
Kangana Questions Silence on Photos
Kangana noted that images from the shoot were widely circulated online, yet neither Masaba nor her brand acknowledged them. She wrote:
“Designers get very excited whenever their brands get seen on celebrities. Have you seen Masaba or her brand handles use these images? Why won’t she tag them?”
She added that the incident coincided with the release of her film Tejas, and she had requested her stylist—hired for promotional events—to assist her for the darshan trip as well.
The Incident That Hurt the Most
Kangana said the moment hurt her deeply, even in the context of other professional distancing she has faced:
“Masaba sent the clothes to the stylist for my promotions but when she was told it’s for Ram Janmbhoomi, she told the stylist not to use her clothes.”
She also described the stylist as “kind and genuine,” who quietly covered the cost of the sari herself and advised Kangana not to tag Masaba or the brand. By the time Kangana learned about the situation, it was too late.
Emotional Fallout
Reflecting on the episode, Kangana wrote:
“I was ready and on my way to Ram Janmbhoomi but it was too much to process. The hate, the bitterness, the prejudice… ewwww how ugly!! Still makes me sick to my stomach!!”
So far, Masaba Gupta has not responded publicly to Kangana’s claims.
