The dispute over the estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has intensified.
With his sister Mandhira Kapur publicly accusing his widow Priya Sachdev of resisting transparency in the inheritance process. In an interview on the podcast InControversial with Pooja Chadhuri, Mandhira alleged that Priya has been demanding secrecy at every stage.
“You wanted an NDA. You wanted the will in a sealed envelope. And now you don’t want a forensic. What are you hiding?” Mandhira said, adding: “I’m going to fight this till the end… It’s not her money. This is pure robbery and fraud. This country needs to wake up and see it.”
Mandhira also claimed that their mother, Rani Kapur, signed certain documents “behind closed doors” shortly after Sunjay’s death and did not fully understand what she was signing. “She was overwhelmed and grieving. This family has been ripped off everything that belongs to us,” she alleged.
She said the Kapur family had jointly built its wealth and should not be excluded: “There were five of us who built this with dad. You can’t cut us off.”
What Is the Inheritance Dispute About?
The conflict over Sunjay Kapur’s wealth began soon after his death, with multiple family members contesting the will and control of his assets.
Sunjay’s children with actor Karisma Kapoor—Samaira and Kiaan—have approached the Delhi High Court, seeking a share of their father’s estate. In their petition, they allege that their stepmother, Priya Sachdev, forged Sunjay’s will.
The children recently filed an additional plea requesting that Priya be restrained from transferring, selling, or modifying any of Sunjay’s assets until the dispute is resolved. The High Court is scheduled to hear the matter on November 20, and further details are awaited.
