Karnataka Student Goes Missing in America, Roommate Turns to Authorities

A 22-year-old Indian student from Karnataka, Saketh Sreenivasaiah, has been reported missing near Lake Anza in the Berkeley Hills, California.

He was last seen on February 9 while pursuing a master’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. The Consulate General of India in San Francisco said it is in close contact with Sreenivasaiah’s family and local authorities, expressing deep concern over his disappearance.

Sreenivasaiah’s roommate, Baneet Singh, took to LinkedIn seeking help from the public. “If anyone knows people in the area who have seen him recently, please reach out to me. I’m working closely with the police to locate him. It’s a difficult time for us,” Singh wrote.

Sreenivasaiah, originally from Karnataka, graduated with a BTech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras in 2025 before enrolling at UC Berkeley for his master’s studies. According to the Berkeley Police Department, he is approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs around 160 pounds (73 kg). Authorities are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them immediately.
