Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, continued its strong run at the box office over the weekend, collecting an estimated Rs 68 crore net in India within three days of release.
Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy action drama hit theatres on May 15 and witnessed steady growth across its opening weekend. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 28.35 crore gross on Sunday alone. Its total India gross collection now stands at approximately Rs 78.75 crore, while the India net collection has reached Rs 68 crore.
The film opened with Rs 16.66 crore gross on Friday, with the India net figure at Rs 14.40 crore. Collections jumped significantly on Saturday as the film earned Rs 24.15 crore, before maintaining momentum on Sunday.
With the latest figures, Karuppu has emerged as the second-biggest opener of Suriya’s career and the highest Tamil opener of 2026 so far.
Story and performances
The film is set in a world where corruption and exploitation leave ordinary people helpless, leading to the rise of Karuppusamy, a deity associated with justice, who takes human form to protect the oppressed. Alongside Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the film features Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada and Anagha Maaya Ravi in important roles. RJ Balaji also appears as the antagonist.
The film’s background score has been composed by Sai Abhyankar.

Soon after release, Karuppu received positive reactions on social media, with viewers praising Suriya’s performance and screen presence. Many fans also appreciated the film’s mix of action, fantasy and emotional storytelling.
