Kendall Jenner may not have posted the poolside photo herself, but that hasn’t stopped fans from widely sharing it across social media. A fan account recently resurfaced an image of the supermodel relaxing at the edge of a swimming pool while wearing a black thong bikini.

In the picture, Jenner rests her arms on the pool’s edge while looking toward the camera, her hair slicked back from the water. The image quickly circulated among fan pages, where followers filled the comments with reactions and compliments.

But long before viral poolside photos and trending bikini moments dominated social media, Kendall Jenner and her younger sister Kylie Jenner had already ventured into the swimwear business together.

Teaming up for a swimwear line

In 2017, the sisters collaborated on a swimwear collection inspired by retro styles. Speaking about the line at the time, Kylie said the designs were influenced by vintage swimsuits once worn by their mother, Kris Jenner.

“We were inspired by old-school ’80s bathing suits like my mom used to wear,” Kylie told Vogue. “My mom has the most amazing ’70s and ’80s swim collection. I’ve worn some lately, so we were really inspired by that sexy sport vibe.”

The collection featured high-cut silhouettes and throwback designs that reflected the vintage aesthetic. Kendall also noted that the flattering cuts were part of the appeal.

“We are loving everything high-cut because it looks amazing on all body types,” she said.

Past criticism and personal reflections

While Kendall Jenner’s bikini photos often receive praise from fans, she has also faced criticism online. In 2018, the model was subjected to body-shaming comments after one of her bikini photos circulated on social media, with users making remarks about her weight, appearance and even details like tan lines.

In recent years, Jenner has also spoken candidly about challenges in her personal life. In an interview with Vogue as the cover star of its Summer 2024 issue, she revealed that she had gone through a particularly difficult period.

Although she said she now feels “really stable” and “really hopeful” about where her career is headed, Jenner admitted the previous months had been tough.

“I haven’t been myself, and my friends see it. I’m more sad than usual. I’m way more anxious than usual. So I’m not going to sit here and act like everything’s perfect. That’s life. I’m always going to be in and out of those feelings,” she said.

Whether through viral photos or candid conversations about her experiences, Kendall Jenner continues to keep fans talking.
