Lewis’ Blazing 91, Hosein’s Triple Strike Power West Indies to Series Win Over Ireland.
West Indies crushed Ireland by 62 runs in the third and final T20I at Bready, sealing a 1-0 series victory on Sunday, June 15. Evin Lewis set the tone with a blistering 91 off 44 balls, while spinner Akeal Hosein starred with the ball, bagging 3/27 to cap a dominant all-round performance.
Batting first after being put in, the visitors piled up a mammoth 256/5 — their second-highest T20I total ever. Despite a slow start, Lewis exploded after the third over, smashing seven fours and eight sixes. Captain Shai Hope supported with a brisk 51 off 27 as the duo added 122 runs in just 64 balls.
Keacy Carty’s unbeaten 49 off 22 deliveries, alongside cameos from Hetmyer, Holder, and Shepherd, helped West Indies finish with a flourish. Irish bowler Liam McCarthy endured a nightmare spell, conceding 81 runs in his four overs — the second-most expensive in T20I history.
Ireland’s chase never truly threatened. Despite a 101-run stand between Ross Adair (48) and Harry Tector (38), the hosts couldn’t keep up with the mounting run rate. Hosein’s spin proved decisive, triggering a collapse that left Ireland at 194/7 by the end of 20 overs.
With the first two matches abandoned due to rain, West Indies took the series 1-0 in emphatic fashion.
