BlackBuck to Exit Outer Ring Road Office Citing Traffic and Poor Roads.
Bengaluru-based logistics tech firm BlackBuck has announced that it will be moving out of its Bellandur office on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), blaming the area’s chronic traffic congestion and deteriorating roads. The announcement came from Co-founder and CEO Rajesh Yabaji on social media.
Clarifying the move, the company emphasized that it has no plans to leave Bengaluru. “Roads full of potholes and dust, coupled with the lowest intent to get them rectified,” Yabaji wrote, adding that he does not expect improvement for at least five years. A corporate statement confirmed: “We are just moving out of the Bellandur location, not out of the city. We are exploring alternative options within Bengaluru.”
ORR Infrastructure Under Scrutiny
The ORR, a key IT corridor, has long struggled with traffic jams and poor road quality. Krishna Kumar Gowda, General Secretary of the Greater Bengaluru IT Companies & Industries Association, said BlackBuck’s decision underscores the urgent need for government action, calling for better roads, metro connectivity, and upgraded public utilities.
The city’s road problems recently went viral after three schoolchildren filmed their bumpy bus ride through pothole-ridden streets. In response, Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced Rs 1,100 crore for road repairs and construction, promising smooth, pothole-free roads and instructing officials to adhere to strict deadlines.
Public Reaction
The move sparked debates on social media. Many users criticized years of neglect in Bengaluru’s infrastructure. “Been a victim of this mess for 15+ years—stormwater drains, sewage, electricity, proper roads—total neglect,” one wrote.
Others highlighted the dilemma of relocating offices to outskirts, citing long commute times for employees. Some praised BlackBuck for prioritizing staff welfare, while others suggested the move could ease local congestion and encourage balanced urban growth. Several users tagged Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar, questioning the pace of metro projects and government accountability.
