‘Most Degrading Behaviour’: Kiren Rijiju Slams Opposition, Shares Lok Sabha Ruckus Videos

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday shared videos of a ruckus in the Lok Sabha, accusing the Opposition of indulging in what he described as “most degrading behaviour.”

In one of the videos posted on X, Rijiju shared footage from the February 4 Lok Sabha session, showing several women Opposition MPs crossing over to the treasury benches and holding a banner in protest. The clip also shows NDA MPs asking Opposition members to vacate the seats.

Claiming that the situation could have escalated further, Rijiju said BJP MPs were restrained from confronting the Opposition leaders.

“Congress Party is proud of the most degrading behavior by their MPs!! If we had not stopped all BJP MPs and allowed the women MPs to confront Congress MPs, it would have led to a very ugly scene. We have very high consideration to protect the dignity and sanctity of Parliament,” Rijiju said in his post.

In another video shared shortly after, Rijiju alleged that Opposition MPs had entered the Well of the House, questioning their conduct during the proceedings.

“Who can justify such behaviour from the hon’ble MPs? The direction from our leadership was very clear that we must maintain the dignity of the House and no BJP MP should get into any physical confrontation with the rude Opposition MPs,” he wrote alongside the clip.

Rijiju Backs BJP Women MPs’ Complaint

Earlier in the day, Rijiju also backed a complaint filed by BJP women MPs with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging that Congress members had crossed parliamentary limits during the disruption.

“The BJP MPs, especially the women MPs, have lodged a strong complaint to the Lok Sabha Speaker against the behaviour of the Congress MPs. They crossed over to the treasury side, crossed the bench where the Prime Minister sits, and moved deep into the treasury benches, almost laying siege to the entire area,” Rijiju was quoted as saying by PTI.

In their letter to the Speaker, BJP MPs alleged that Opposition members “not only laid siege to the seat of the Prime Minister but also moved deep inside the treasury benches where senior ministers are seated.”

The developments came after Congress women MPs, in a separate letter to Speaker Om Birla, accused the ruling party of compelling him to make “false, baseless, and defamatory” allegations against them, PTI reported.
