Aasha Singh Jaiswal, Mahabharat Actor and Mimicry Pioneer, Dies in Mumbai

Veteran actor and renowned mimicry artist Aasha Singh Jaiswal passed away in Mumbai on August 22 at the age of [age]. Her son Akkash Bharadwaj confirmed that she died at around 7:30 pm. Her last rites were performed the next morning at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West.

Son Shares Emotional Tribute

Akkash paid an emotional tribute to his mother through an Instagram post, remembering her as an “Iron Lady” who remained deeply committed to her work.

He urged her admirers to pray for her soul and continue watching and remembering her performances. Reflecting on her life, he said her work was central to her identity and encouraged people to honour her legacy by keeping her contributions alive.

Known for Mahabharat Role

Aasha Singh Jaiswal was best known to television audiences for playing Kripi, the sister of Kripacharya, in B.R. Chopra’s iconic mythological series Mahabharat. She also appeared in several Hindi films, including Baazigar, Bobby Jasoos, Deewangee, Aag, Kayda Kanoon, Aansu Bane Angaarey and Ghar Bazar.

A Distinguished Mimicry Artist

Alongside acting, Aasha carved out a niche as a pioneering female mimicry artist. She was particularly recognised for her impressions of legendary actress Meena Kumari.

She also founded Aasha Events and Films and remained involved in social work throughout her career. Her work across television, cinema, mimicry and live performances earned her a distinctive place in the entertainment industry.
