Maruthi Dasari has shared his first update after the underwhelming response to The Raja Saab, confirming that he has already begun work on his next script. Striking an optimistic note, the filmmaker reached out to fans and well-wishers, calling the experience a learning curve.

Taking to Instagram, Maruthi posted a set of photos while revealing progress on his upcoming project. “Every journey is a learning experience. On this auspicious occasion of #SriRamaNavami, I’m grateful to be giving final touches to my next script with His blessings,” he wrote. He also thanked audiences, media, and supporters for their feedback, adding that he would strive to win back their appreciation with his next outing.

Pre-Release Confidence and Viral Promise

Ahead of the film’s release, Maruthi had made a bold statement expressing complete confidence in the project. Addressing fans, he said that even if “1%” of viewers were disappointed, they could directly question him — even sharing his residential address publicly.

Standing beside him, Prabhas smiled as the remark drew loud cheers. The moment turned emotional when Maruthi praised the actor’s dedication, prompting Prabhas to hug him on stage — a gesture that was widely applauded.

Box Office Performance

Despite a strong opening, The Raja Saab struggled to sustain momentum at the box office. The film collected ₹9.15 crore in Thursday previews and surged to ₹53.75 crore on Day 1, largely driven by the Telugu market.

However, collections dipped sharply over the weekend, falling to ₹26 crore on Saturday and ₹19.1 crore on Sunday. The downward trend continued into the weekdays, with Monday registering ₹6.6 crore. The film showed minor stability midweek but closed its first week at ₹130.25 crore net in India.

The second week witnessed a further slowdown, with daily collections dropping significantly, indicating a subdued theatrical run compared to Prabhas’ recent releases.
