Microsoft 365 Hits Global Outage; Services Slowly Recovering
Microsoft 365 experienced a widespread outage on Thursday, affecting thousands of users worldwide. Key platforms, including Outlook, Microsoft Store, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Purview, were disrupted.
The company confirmed it was investigating the issue via its admin center. Downdetector recorded over 11,000 reports for Outlook, with total complaints across Microsoft 365 exceeding 14,000. Many users saw a “451 4.3.2 Temporary server error”, blocking emails from sending or receiving.
Microsoft later identified a segment of its North American service infrastructure as the source of the problem. Teams are working to restore the infrastructure and rebalance traffic to stabilize services. Users reported gradual improvements, though full recovery is ongoing.
Frustrated users took to social media, sharing their experiences and monitoring the slow return of services. Microsoft continues to provide updates and corrective measures.
