Nawazuddin Siddiqui, celebrated for his intense performances in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Raman Raghav 2.0, and Sacred Games, is stepping into a new zone with Thamma — a horror-comedy featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.

For the 51-year-old actor, Thamma isn’t just another film — it’s special because it’s the first one his children will actually be able to watch. Speaking to HT City, Nawazuddin said, “The kind of films I’ve done so far are too dark for kids. Thamma is the first movie my children can see. I’m really excited about that. The world we’ve created in this film feels like something out of an old fairy tale.”

The actor, who has mostly portrayed intense and psychologically complex characters, said that trying something lighter was both refreshing and meaningful. “Sometimes, it’s important to step away from all that intensity and do something fun,” he added.

In another interview with The New Indian, Nawazuddin opened up about his relationship with his daughter Shora, who lives in Dubai. “I’m more attached to my daughter. She’s straightforward and doesn’t hesitate to criticise me. She keeps me grounded. The best thing is, she isn’t in awe of me as an actor — she treats me like a normal father, and I love that,” he said.

The teaser of Thamma, released on August 19, 2025, promises a quirky blend of humour, horror, and fantasy. It shows Ayushmann and Rashmika as lovers caught in a world of mystery until Nawazuddin’s character appears — bringing an eerie yet comical twist.

Ayushmann’s character, Alok, is described as “insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed” (the last hope of humanity), while Rashmika’s Tadaka is “roshni ki pehli kiran” (the first ray of light). Together, they set the stage for a supernatural adventure that blends laughter, scares, and emotion — and for Nawazuddin, a rare chance to make a film his kids can finally enjoy.
