Neeraj Chopra, Julian Weber Lead Stellar Javelin Line-up at Paris Diamond League.
Olympic silver medallist Neeraj Chopra will return to the Stade Charléty for the Paris Diamond League on June 20, headlining a world-class javelin field that includes Germany’s Julian Weber and Grenada’s Anderson Peters. The seven-man lineup also features Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott, former world champion Julius Yego, Moldova’s Andrian Mardare, and Brazil’s Luiz Mauricio da Silva. Among them, five have already crossed the 90-metre mark in their careers.
Chopra, who last competed at this venue in 2017, is chasing his first major win of the 2025 season. After opening with a victory in South Africa, he made headlines with a 90.23m throw in Doha — his first-ever over the 90m barrier — but was narrowly edged out by Weber. The Indian star finished second again in Poland, with 84.14m.
Weber (91.44m PB) and Peters (93.07m PB) are the only athletes in the field with better personal records than Chopra, whose 90m form puts him in strong contention. “Five javelin throwers with 90m-plus throws — this is going to be a crazy competition,” event organisers stated.
Chopra’s schedule continues with the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava on June 24, followed by the first-ever Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5, a Category A World Athletics event. With the Olympics nearing, the Paris Diamond League promises to be a crucial test — and a potential preview of the medal race — in men’s javelin.
