Neeraj Chopra Qualifies for Diamond League 2025 Final Ahead of World Championships.
India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra has secured his place in the Diamond League 2025 Final in Zurich, set for August 27–28. The reigning world champion, who achieved his season-best throw in Doha, is among the first men’s javelin athletes to qualify for the prestigious summit event in Switzerland.
Chopra, working with coach Jan Zelezny on a new technique, has skipped several competitions this season. He last competed at a gold-standard event in Bengaluru and missed the Silesia Diamond League meet on August 16, where he was expected to face Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who also withdrew due to injury.
With 15 points from two Diamond League meetings—one victory and one second-place finish—Neeraj sits third in the standings behind Keshorn Walcott (17) and Julian Weber (15). He will compete alongside Walcott and Weber in Zurich.
This season, the 27-year-old surpassed the 90m mark in Doha with a throw of 90.23m, finishing second to Weber, and later claimed the Paris DL title with an 88.16m throw in June. The Diamond League final comes just before the World Championships in Tokyo, scheduled from September 13–21, where Chopra will look to defend his title.

Neeraj has previously finished runner-up twice in the Diamond League final—losing narrowly to Anderson Peters last year and to Jakub Vadlejch in 2023—but claimed his maiden Diamond League title in 2022.
