Netanyahu Thanks Trump for Support in Corruption Trial, Vows to ‘Make Middle East Great Again.’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly thanked former U.S. President Donald Trump for his support amid his ongoing corruption trial, invoking a modified version of Trump’s signature slogan: “Together, we will make the Middle East great again.”

Netanyahu’s message, posted on X, came after Trump launched a strong defense of the Israeli leader, calling the charges against him a “political witch hunt” and criticizing Israeli prosecutors.

“Thank you again, Donald Trump. Together, we will make the Middle East Great Again,” Netanyahu wrote.

Trump, posting on Truth Social, slammed the corruption charges—bribery, fraud, and breach of trust—as baseless, calling the proceedings “insanity.”

“It is INSANITY doing what the out-of-control prosecutors are doing to Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump wrote. “He is a war hero and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to eliminate the dangerous nuclear threat in Iran.”

He added that forcing Netanyahu to appear in court interferes with his efforts to negotiate a hostage deal with Hamas and manage tensions with Iran.

“How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a courtroom all day long, over NOTHING—Cigars, Bugs Bunny doll, etc?” Trump wrote, comparing Netanyahu’s trial to his own recent legal troubles.

The former U.S. President also warned that such legal action could undermine U.S. support for Israel, noting that Washington provides billions of dollars in aid.

“The United States of America spends billions of dollars a year… protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this,” Trump added. “LET BIBI GO, HE’S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO.”

Legal Developments
Netanyahu was indicted in 2019 on multiple charges and his trial began in 2020, involving three separate criminal cases. He denies all allegations.

On Friday, an Israeli court rejected a request by Netanyahu’s legal team to delay his upcoming testimony, which is scheduled for Monday. The defense had cited pressing diplomatic and security duties in the aftermath of the recent 12-day conflict with Iran.

This marks the second time in recent days that Trump has spoken out in Netanyahu’s defense, increasingly linking Israel’s domestic legal actions to broader geopolitical consequences—and U.S. financial aid.
