Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Announces Rs 25,000 One-Time Allowance for Vikas Mitras Ahead of Assembly Polls.
Patna: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday announced a one-time allowance of Rs 25,000 for over 10,000 Vikas Mitras working in villages. The funds are intended to help them purchase tablets, enabling smoother data management for various welfare schemes.
In addition, the CM announced:
- Transportation allowance for Vikas Mitras increased from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,500 per month.
- Stationery allowance raised from Rs 900 to Rs 1,500 per month.
Financial support of Rs 10,000 each for over 30,000 Shiksha Sevaks and Talimi Markaz staff to buy smartphones, helping connect children from Mahadalit, Dalit, minority, and extremely backward communities to education.
Teaching material allowance per centre increased from Rs 3,405 to Rs 6,000 annually.
Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), Kumar said:
“These measures aim to empower education workers and Vikas Mitras, making digital work easier and supporting the education of marginalized children under the Akshar Aanchal scheme.” The move underscores the state government’s commitment to uplifting deprived communities while strengthening grassroots administration ahead of the polls.
